The Non-Profit Grant for Fiscal Year 2020 has closed and WDVA is no longer accepting applications.​


The Wisconsin Non-Profit Grant is available to registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations that provide financial assistance or other services to Wisconsin veterans and their families. The Non-Profit Grant program includes a maximum total of up to $250,000 annually to nonprofit organizations and no more than $25,000 to each grant recipient.​

The WDVA is proud partners with more than 1000 community and non-profit organizations across the state, particularly through the Veterans Outreach and Recovery Program that help veterans with housing (homelessness), behavioral health, mental health, and financial and legal assistance, among other services. We encourage these groups and others who wish to join our network of organizations that provide services veterans and their families to apply.​

Nonprofits interested in applying for this grant opportunity must have submitted their completed applications by 4:00 p.m. on August 30, 2019 in order to be considered.​​

  • Experience Working with Veterans and Their Families
  • Need for Grant Funding
  • Outreach and Screening Plan
  • Program Implementation Timeline
  • Monitoring and Program Evaluation
  • Program Goals and Objectives
  • Past Working Relationships with Veteran Service Organizations
  • Integration of Outreach and Employment Services

To qualify, non-profit organizations must be located in this state and registered and in good standing with the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions.

Entrepreneurship Grant Program



The Entrepreneurship Grant for Fiscal Year 2020 has closed and WDVA is no longer accepting applications.

The Wisconsin Entrepreneurship Grant is available to registered 501(c)(3)  or 501(c)(6) non-profit organizations that provide entrepreneurship training, or technical, business or other assistance to veteran entrepreneurs to improve employment outcomes.  Non-profit organizations interested in applying for this grant opportunity must have submitted their completed applications by Wednesday, July 31, 2019 @ 4:00pm. ​

The following criteria is evaluated as part of the grant application:

  • Background and Organizational History
  • Organizational Qualifications and Past Performance​
  • Experience Working with Veterans
  • Need for Grant Funding
  • Outreach and Referral Plan
  • Program and Implementation Timeline
  • Monitoring and Program Evaluation
  • Program Goals and Objectives
  • Past Working Relationships with other Start-up Businesses and Entrepreneurship Programs

The Entrepreneurship Grant program includes a maximum total of up to $450,000 during the period of July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020. To qualify, non-profit organizations must be located in this state and registered and in good standing with the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions.  Applicant are able to apply for up to $100,000 per grant period.
