The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs offers current employees at Wisconsin Veterans Homes at King and Union Grove the opportunity to receive a bonus for new hire references, and new hires may be eligible for sign-on bonuses.

Wisconsin Veterans Homes Referral Bonus
- King and Union Grove Veterans Homes employees can receive a bonus for referring a new hire!
- The new hire must be selected for a permanent position.
- The new hire can’t have prior state service within the last 5 years in a permanent or project position.
- The new hire must name the referring employee no later than the end of their first day.
- Referring employee and new hire must work in the same 24×7 facility when the new hire starts and at the time of each payout.
- Referring employee cannot be the Commandant, Deputy Commandant, direct supervisor, or be associated with the selection of the employee.
- Referring employee must be in a permanent or project position (LTEs are not eligible).
- Amount of the referral bonus is $1500. $500 will be paid after the new hire remains in the role for 30 days. $1000 will be paid once the new hire passes probation.
Wisconsin Veterans Homes Sign-On Bonus
- Sign-on bonuses are available for new hires!
- Must be hired into a permanent position in an eligible classification.
- Can’t have worked for the state in the last 5 years
- Amount of the bonus is $3000. $1500 paid on the first biweekly check after hire and $1500 paid on the first check after completing probation.
- Employees may need to repay any funds received if they leave their role prior to one year.
- Sign on bonus is currently available for the following classifications:
- Custodian
- Facilities Maintenance Specialist-Advanced
- Food Service Assistant 2
- Licensed Practical Nurse
- Nursing Assistant 2
- Nursing Assistant-Weekend
- Nursing Assistant 3
- Nurse Clinician 2
