Amber Peck

Staff Sgt. Amber Peck grew up in Poynette, Wisconsin. She enlisted in the Wisconsin Army National Guard in June 2014, beginning her military journey with basic combat training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Following her training, she attended 12 weeks of advanced individual training at the Defense Information School in Fort Meade, Maryland, where she earned her qualification as a 46R public affairs broadcast specialist. In this role, she specializes in creating, filming, reporting, hosting, and editing news and entertainment radio and television programs.

In June 2015, Peck was assigned to the 112th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment based in Madison, Wisconsin. She furthered her education by graduating from Madison Area Technical College in December 2017 with a Journalism certificate and an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts. Her commitment to service led her to deploy to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in April 2018, supporting the Joint Task Force Guantanamo public affairs office. During her deployment, she facilitated national and international media visits, managed social media accounts, produced public service announcement videos, and photographed various military operations.

In February 2021, Peck transitioned from the 46R military occupational specialty to 46S, becoming a public affairs mass communication specialist. Currently, she is responsible for researching, preparing, and distributing news releases, articles, and photographs highlighting Army personnel and activities. She actively develops ideas for news stories, conducts interviews, writes feature articles and editorials, and provides media training.

Throughout her military career, Peck has participated in several overseas deployment training exercises, including Anaconda 16 in Poland (2016), Ulchi Freedom Guardian in South Korea (2017), and African Lion 22 in Africa (2022). Her dedication and hard work have earned her numerous awards, including the Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, multiple Army Reserve Component Achievement Medals, and several others.

Currently, Peck is the full-time public affairs specialist for the Wisconsin National Guard at Joint Force Headquarters in Madison, Wisconsin. In addition to her military responsibilities, she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Communication at the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay.
