Gail Nohr

I was a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy. I was stationed at Portsmouth Naval Hospital and Norfolk Sewells Point Clinic. After my discharge in 1985, I worked for the US Postal Service for 22 years. I was a Union Steward and the Safety and Health Director, and we had about 75% veterans in our office. I was always fighting for veterans’ rights. After an early retirement, I worked for the CVSO office for 6 years, taking about 30 phone calls daily from veterans in need. About 1/3 of those calls were for housing. My partner, a carpenter and a home builder, retired about 2 years ago, and we started Veterans 1st Tiny Homes Village. If we get the proper zoning, it will have 21 affordable small homes and a Community Center where our 50 community partners will provide services for them to become self-sufficient in about 5 years.
