Wisconsin GI Bill

Introduction

WI GI Bill Brochure crop.jpgThe Wisconsin GI Bill remits (forgives) full tuition and segregated fees for eligible veterans and their dependents for up to eight semesters or 128 credits, whichever is greater, at any University of Wisconsin System or Wisconsin Technical College System school. The Wisconsin GI Bill is a state program that is entirely separate from the Federal GI Bill®.

For additional information, eligibility criteria and instructions on how to apply for the Wisconsin GI Bill program, see the WI GI Bill information and application booklet (Español).

Eligibility Determination

The Wisconsin GI Bill waiver of tuition and fees is administered by the participating University of Wisconsin System institutions and the Wisconsin Technical Colleges. For more information about your Wisconsin GI benefits, visit University of Wisconsin System Veterans or Wisconsin Technical College System Veteran Services

Eligibility determination is a two part process. The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs certifies the veteran's eligibility. The post-secondary educational institution determines if the student meets the statutory requirements for eligibility.  If the eligible student is a spouse or child they must also meet the "Residency for tuition purposes" criteria.

If you are also eligible for and plan to use the Federal VA Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33), Montgomery GI Bill (Chapter 30), or any other Federal VA educational benefits, please contact the school's Veteran Certifying Official in order to financially plan your education and better understand the complex relationship between these Federal benefits and the Wisconsin GI Bill.  Contact information for the Veteran Certifying Officials:
