The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs is committed to helping veterans and their families experiencing homelessness access needed services such as housing, training, education, counseling and rehabilitative services they need to obtain permanent housing and employment.

988+1 – Veteran Crisis Line
If you are a veteran in crisis or you’re concerned about one, call 988 and press ‘1’ or text 838255 to get connected to the Veteran Crisis Line for 24/7/365 confidential crisis support. You will be connected to a real person qualified to support veterans. You do not have to be enrolled in VA benefits or health care to use the crisis line.
211 – Local Program and Services
211 is a free and confidential service that connects you with thousands of local programs and services. Simply dial 211 on your phone to reach trained community resource specialists available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Veteran Housing and Recovery Program
The Veterans Housing and Recovery Program (VHRP) provides temporary housing, training, and supportive services to military veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless in order to help them obtain permanent housing. The goal of VHRP is to help veterans achieve stability, increase their skill levels and/or income, and obtain greater self-determination that will enable them to reintegrate back to the community.
While spouses and children are not eligible to live at VHRP sites, our staff works to help veteran families access housing and other resources.
