Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery

The Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery (CWVMC) located near King, WI provides a final resting place for eligible veterans, spouses and dependents and creates a lasting memorial to their achievements and sacrifices.

Wisconsin's first state veteran's cemetery opened in June of 1888 with the burial of a Civil War veteran. In addition to veterans from the Civil War the CWVMC is the final resting place for veterans of the Indian Wars, Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and Persian Gulf War, as well as peacetime veterans. An enclosed committal shelter is used for services year-round. The cemetery also hosts veterans' events and commemorations in its ceremonial area and flag plaza.Committal shelter CWVMC 11.9.23.jpg

The cemetery inters caskets and cremation urns year-round. Cremated remains may be interred either in ground or in an above ground columbarium.  All internments are memorialized with a government marker that will include the veteran's name, rank, branch of service, war period, birth date, death date and spousal information. Families also have the option of adding an additional inscription/term of endearment to their loved ones' marker if space is available on the marker.

The cemetery is conveniently located in central Wisconsin near the City of Waupaca and is easily accessible from U.S. Highway 10.​ ​

Memorial Day

​​​This year the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be hosting an in-person ceremony on Monday, May 27, 2024 at 10 a.m. We hope to see you there.  

Office Hours:

Monday thru Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:0​0 p.m.
Closed State holidays.

Visitation Hours:
Cemetery grounds are open from sunrise to sunset daily.

The cemetery administration building is open sunrise to sunset. Family restroom, grave locator, detailed maps, and cemetery information are available in the main foyer.

Burial Space:
CWVMC offers casket burial, in-ground burial of cremains, and columbarium interment of cremains.
